Labor Day Road Trip

The Sobotta Crew headed out Saturday morning for a mini road trip and had a blast. We didn't have any plans except that we wanted to see the Olympic Game Farm at some point. Our first stop was in North Bend to snoop around at the outlet malls - we found Simon some sweet Nike shoes and we got some back to school clothes for Eric also. Then back in the car to Everett where we stayed the night: swimming, a movie and a great nights sleep for all! On Sunday morning we drove to Sequim via the Edmonds ferry - it was a beautiful day and the boys' first ferry ride. Lots of fun chasing two tow heads up and down the boat!

Once in Sequim we drove to the Game Farm where the was a small petting "zoo" consisting of goats and sheep. Eric and I weren't impressed but the kids could have hung out there all day and counted it as one of the greatest days ever! Then we went on the driving tour which was a ton of fun. The kids were up in the front of the truck with us and we had two loaves of bread to feed the animals we saw. It started out slow -- literally -- we couldn't move due to llamas blocking the road way. But soon, it got more exciting: yaks that were coming right over to us eating bread from our hands, a sleeping Rhino, zebras, and Kodiak bears. There were also small cages that kept wolves, tigers, and lions. And then we entered the area with the Bison and Elk. Who knew bison had such large tongues? These were very friendly animals and even I was a bit nervous with a big bison head in the front seat! We topped off the day with ice cream cones, a walk on the beach and a swim in the pool.

It was a relaxing trip to sunny Sequim.  We hope to return soon!
